Tips to incorporate a home office into your bedroom

Conceal a home office system into a closet or armoire.  Once the doors are shut, no one will ever know!  Whether you opt for a custom built or a stand alone piece of furniture, the key is to conceal all the office clutter behind doors when not in use.  There are many options available to consumers today and most include a place for a monitor, CPU, printer/fax and even have tack space for hanging memos and pictures of the kids.

You might try building a nook in your bedroom that can serve as both a vanity and office.  Taking advantage of natural light from a window, add a small table and bench and it can double as a place to apply make up in the morning and a desk to prepare bills in the evening.  Try using a bench with a flip-top seat that has concealed storage inside to stash paperwork and office supplies.  Stackable baskets and decorative wooden boxes are great for hiding small items and a stack of three or four make a nice visual statement in a room.  Make sure to select a wood tone that blends with your existing furniture or choose glass for a more open and contemporary look.

Add a wireless router and work from bed!  This is my personal favorite.  Adding a wireless network to your home is affordable and allows you to make any room an office – even an outdoor deck can be transformed into a productive workspace with a laptop and a few office necessities.  Try using a small rolling cart to conceal office supplies, make commonly used files accessible and keep everything neat, organized and transportable.

The key to adding an office space into any room of your home is keeping things neat and organized so that you can keep the visual clutter reduced.
